Book Egg:  n.  that first little snapshot, usually of a scene, character or bit of dialogue, that ends up being the start of a new book.  Often it has to be sat on for a while before it reaches maturity.

EG:  Stephanie Meyer dreamed of a couple in a meadow and it turned out to be a book egg for Twilight.
